YouTube has determined that any post on their website of Donald Trump’s full 2021 CPAC speech, or any clip that contains the former president speaking on the 2020 election will be removed. The Right Side Broadcasting Network channel on YouTube was given a 2-week suspension from live streaming and uploading videos, and their video of Trump’s full CPAC speech was removed.
YouTube is citing their Presidential Election Integrity policy, which they adopted on December 9th of 2020, as the basis for this decision, according to Ivy Choi, a spokeswoman for YouTube that spoke with The Daily Wire. Choi continued:
We enforce our Community Guidelines consistently, regardless of speaker or political leaning… In accordance with our established presidential election integrity policy, which prohibits content uploaded after the safe harbor deadline claiming widespread fraud changed the outcome of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, we removed this video from Right Side Broadcasting Network. Content featuring footage from CPAC 2021 that does not violate our policies or contains sufficient educational, documentary, scientific and artistic context remains on YouTube.
Though the Right Side Broadcasting Network channel was punished for publishing the former presidents speech, SkyNow and NewsNow from Fox also posted the full speech without having it removed or receiving suspensions/penalties to the channels. When prompted to speak on this point, Choi said the “two videos shared with us do not violate our Community Guidelines.” Both the SkyNow and NewsNew from Fox made statements at the end of the video that refuted the former presidents “election claims,” whereas RSBN did not, the key difference.
“Our video was removed because we refused to give ‘countervailing viewpoints’ following Trump’s speech… Essentially they wanted us to go on air after he was done with his speech and ‘push back’ against his claims of election fraud,” the Right Side Broadcasting Network commented. RSBN also noted that if they were to receive another penalty, that they could see their channel of 1.5 million subscribers be permanently terminated.
